Maria Sílvia Betti and Fernando Bustamante In Conversation with Deirdre Kinahan

On May 26, 2025, at 2:30PM, the W. B. Yeats Chair of Irish Studies will host at the Ireland Corner a conversation between Irish playwright and theatre producer Deirdre Kinahan and Professor Maria Sílvia Betti and Professor Fernando Bustamante.

Born in Dublin, Deirdre Kinahan lives with her family in Kells, County Meath. After attending a drama school as a child, joining Dramsoc as a student, and performing with amateur groups, she founded her own theatre company in 1997. Tall Tales became a successful independent company, funded by the Arts Council, and it was there that she began writing. Believing in the power of theatre to change hearts and minds, she writes from the margins, tracing the human condition as it struggles with contemporary life. Her plays include Rathmines Road, Crossings, Spinning, Halcyon Days, Moment, Bogboy, Hue & Cry, and Melody.
