With deepest sadness we hear of the passing of the great Northern Irish poet Michael Longley.
We remember warmly that along the years Michael and Edna have given their generous and enthusiastic support to Irish Studies in Brazil by sending poems and articles for our publications. The University of São Paulo was honoured to receive them to participate in the 2002 IASIL international conference in Brazil.
The University of São Paulo, the Brazilian Association of Irish Studies and the W.B. Yeats Chair of Irish Studies at USP express their heartfelt condolences to Edna, their daughter Sarah, family and friends.
