This year, The W. B. Yeats Chair of Irish Studies has the honour of hosting Professor Elke D'hoker, from the University of Leuven, Professor Dirce Waltrick do Amarante, from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, and Professor Fran O'Rourke, Emeritus Professor at University College Dublin.
Bloomsday celebrates June 16th, 1904, the day immortalized in James Joyce’s 1922 novel Ulysses. The name of the event refers to Leopold Bloom, one of the novel’s protagonists. Bloomsday celebrations take many forms around the world, including readings, performances, reenactments, tours, exhibitions, and lectures. Bloomsday is celebrated by admirers of Joyce and literature lovers across the globe.
